Prototype Background

For generations, stock cars played an essential role in moving livestock across North America, transporting cattle, horses, sheep, hogs, calves, mules, and other animals between farms, ranches, stockyards, and processing facilities. Livestock traffic represented an important source of railroad revenue and could be found moving across branchlines, rural districts, and busy mainlines alike.
